Erin Riseing BSC, ND
Erin Riseing, B.A., N.D. is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor, who has been in practice since 2007.
Erin Riseing completed her undergraduate degree in cultural anthropology in 1999. Through anthropology she fell in love with the open-mindedness that comes from exploring other cultures and ways of living - the rich storytelling, connection to food, and plant medicine. After completing her degree she travelled in Mexico, Belize and Guatemala.
Before embarking on her naturopathic career, she worked primarily with children and youth. She taught wilderness and environmental pursuits in Algonquin Park, teaching children about nature, plant identification, and basic survival skills through games and activities. She also worked as a program developer for a home for at-risk youth, creating and running educational, life skills, recreational, and social programs. She designed and led a canoeing and portaging trip with the youth, where they learned about the environment, but also became empowered by their own abilities and gifts.
She then decided to become a Naturopathic Doctor, completing a rigorous 4-year program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. She wanted to be able to continue teaching, specifically about health, nutrition, life skills like healthy cooking and using plant medicines.
After her studies were completed, she travelled to Central America to volunteer for an international health brigade called Natural Doctors International (NDI). NDI provides free medical services to underserved communities in Nicaragua with volunteer medical rotations for licensed naturopathic physicians and natural health care practitioners. They work in challenging conditions with limited resources.
“I am passionate about empowering people to heal and change their life. I learned how to treat illness, prevent disease, and promote overall wellness using effective natural treatments such as herbal medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, nutrition, hydrotherapy, and bodywork. My aim is to treat the root cause of illness and facilitate the body’s natural healing mechanisms. I believe that illness is a message from the body, an opportunity to address the fundamental cause of disharmony in order to truly heal. My areas of interest include women’s health, detoxification, fertility, food allergies and sensitivities, children’s health, autoimmune conditions and digestive disorders. I look forward to working with you to towards your best health.” Erin Riseing
